January 2020 saw us commence the building of our state-of-the-art distribution centre in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.
At the end of 2021, we are now pleased to announce that the fitout of the building is now complete with preparations now underway to welcome our new colleagues to the depot.
Standing at 660,000 square feet, Biggleswade will be the biggest distribution centre in our logistics network, capable of handling more than 2 million cases a week encompassing Frozen, Fresh and Ambient stock.
Along with improving service and availability to our existing stores and partners, it will also support our plans for growth across the South in 2022 and future years.
We are working through the Frozen, Fresh and Ambient stock ramp up volumes in preparation for opening our doors to suppliers in early 2022 and will look to provide you with further information in the new year so you can action internally and with your hauliers.
